Bismuth.

Bismuth was made by exploding stars!

It is a naturally occurring, brittle metal, with iridescent colourful, stair-step crystal formations. It was created inside massive stars when lighter elements fused into heavier ones during Supernova explosions or Neutron star collisions (because nuclear fusion was not powerful enough to create it) before it shot out into space and became part of the material that formed the Earth.

It does not appear in large deposits for mining but is found alongside ores of Lead, Copper, Tin and Silver. When these other materials are refined, Bismuth is left behind, it is melted, and as it slowly cools the crystals grow inward, forming geometric “hopper” step-like structures. Its rainbow colours are not impurities and form because of a thin oxide layer and light interference.

In its liquid form Bismuth is used in medicines, cosmetics and alloys and can aid with digestive health, helping fight diarrhoea, reduce nausea and indigestion, help with heartburn and protect the stomach lining. Bismuth has mild antibacterial effects, especially in the gut and is sometimes used in combination therapies to treat infections like Helicobacter pylori which is linked to ulcers. It does have a low toxicity (Compared to Other Heavy Metals) but it does have to be especially refined for internal use, so please do not be tempted.

Emotionally Bismuth is believed to help with reducing overwhelm and is said to help with clear thinking and organising scattered thoughts. Many people find it useful during stressful times and when suffering with multitasking burnout. It is thought to provide emotional stability during turbulent times and life transitions. It is said to “create a sense of order in chaos” There are those who believe that Bismuth can help with confidence & forward movement, because of its “step-like” crystal shape.

Spiritually it is strongly linked with personal growth especially with spiritual awakening, there are many who use Bismuth as a meditation aid, it’s shape and colour making it a wonderful visual focus object to help concentration. It’s geometric patterns are thought to reflect universal order and interconnected systems. It does have dual energies of grounding and expansion, offering stability while expanding awareness.

Bismuth is commonly linked with the root chakra, centring on grounding and safety, and the crown chakra supporting a higher awareness of environment and spirit.
